Aurora Mission was founded in 2010 in Perth, Western Australia.
Richard and Debby Blettner began a Food Rescue Project, with a weekly collection of excess fresh fruits, veges and bread from the local weekend markets
The fruits and vegetables were distributed to Women’s and Women with children’s Refuges and Centres for the Homeless. The mission is still active 10 years later.
The Seychelles Breast Prosthetic Mission was also founded in 2010, supplying the women of the Seychelles with 2nd hand breast prosthetics and bras for their cancer patients.
The project originated with Debby’s personal use of the prosthetics after she received treatment for breast cancer. Breast Cancer WA offered to donate the 2nd hand prosthetics to the 3rd world countries we were visiting, as part of our mission work.
We found it very successful for friends in need.
Word caught on for the need in India. Australia Post sponsored the shipment of the fast accumulating prostheses. As time passed difficulties arose and the mission to India closed.
I received a call locally from a Seychellois lady requesting prosthesis for her mother, who was involved in a cancer charity in the Seychelles. We had collected many prosthetics, enough to fill their car to the brim.
They saw the opportunity to deliver the prosthetics/bras to the women of the Seychelles Islands, and we were relieved to have found an appropriate home for them.
We delivered three shipments and have one ready to go.
Years passed and we are still on mission with the Seychelles.
